Most new plasma televisions come from the factory equipped with stands to hold the television upright on a flat surface. That plasma TV stands that come with a new plasma television are designed for use with that specific model and may not be secure enough for different television sets. One of the advantages of the thinner profile plasma televisions is being able to mount them on the wall, but many still prefer to place them on stands that put them in a more comfortable position for viewing.
